The concept of nonfiction can be very abstract, making it difficult to teach the concept. These worksheets look at the nonfiction text feature; title page. Within these worksheets are three activities that are designed to help students understand the concept of a title page as well as identifying the elements on a title page. This download includes a printable worksheet with two activities, a printable checklist with a checklist for individual students and for the class and finally an answer sheet with answers to the activities. The objectives of these worksheets is to deepen the understanding of exactly what a title page is and how to create one. The first activity students will be creating their own title page using a image provided and the second activity requires students to identifying the elements on a title page. These activities are great for grade 1,2 and 3 and can be used as an introduction, recap, support or enrichment. Simply print the activity and hand out students. In this narrative writing assignment, students will choose their city and sport, as well as what went wrong and what went well. Including the appropriate sequence of events, as well as a conflict is key. Thinking about the way we think is a foundational skill for growing the executive functions our kiddos will use in the editing process. For this reason, a short checklist has been included at the end of page 4 so that learners can begin to go back and check their work. This key skill in developing healthy executive functioning is intentionally made visible to students to prompt ownership over the quality of their writing.
