This resource is a Crime Scene Investigation Student Activity . Included in this lesson is a 9 day unit plan, instructions for all the experiments and activities, and packet for a crime scene investigation. You will receive a PDF download which includes the teacher notes/lessons plans as well as the student packets. This is a highly authentic and engaging unit- it's designed so that you are able to teach the scientific method using real world and inquiry based application. It's easy to follow, and amazingly fun. Sally Scarecrow has suffered a deadly hiccup attack at the hands of a teacher in the building. Student detectives spent the first day in detective school brushing up on content vocabulary, reviewing our suspect list, making predictions and observing the crime scene from a far. Over the next several days you will ask questions, compose experiments testing the cola from the crime scene for poison with litmus juice, dusting for finger prints, analyzing handwriting and more. We concluded our CSI by drafting a composite sketch of who we thought the culprit was, serving the culprit with an arrest warrant and reading her/him their Miranda Rights. Students will love solving the mystery of Sally Scarecrow! This is a great back to school or end of the year activity . There is not a better or more applicable way to teach students about the Scientific Method. The report portion of the packet can be used as the assessment component of the unit and includes a rubric. It covers everything!

We are always looking for ways to teach our students new skills. Being able to tailor instruction to their learning styles is just one effective way to increase student engagement and set students up for success. Many of our students, from year to year, are visual and auditory learners. Most children (and even adults) can attest to their ability to better retain information that they have learned through music and song. Because of this, my resources seek to teach students skills through song. This particular resource is aColumbus and Explorers Song. This can be used in your social studies classroom with your elementary students. Activity Introduction An amazing activity designed for the students to learn how does the lymphatic vessel work. The Lymphatic System Your lymphatic system is part of your immune system. It produces and releases lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) and other immune cells. Lymphatic Vessel Experiment The activity is designed to Elevate both eagerness for learning and researching skills for kids. Students will have fun experimenting how the lymphatic vessel works, while learning the importance of the lymphatic system. Lymphatic Vessel This friendly designed worksheet is suitable for students at school, homeschooling, and as a group activity. Instructions Place the straw inside the balloon, then tie the rubber band around its tip. Put the balloon inside the glass, then slowly fill the straw with water until they are both filled. What you created now is a lymphatic vessel (the straw), a skeletal muscle (the balloon), and the lymph (water). Now squeeze the balloon to imitate a muscle contraction, then write down your notes. Drop some sequins into the straw. Those sequins represent glucose, amino acids, or infections. Watch the sequins sink, then write down your notes.
