If you want to assess student’s ability to identify these things within a story they are reading, this is a great way. another great way to implement this chart is to guide student writing if they have been tasked with writing their own short story. By using this chart, students are more likely to create an organized and compelling piece of written work. Students will start on the left side of the triangle and work their way up the line with 3 separate events meant to detail the rising action. By the time students reach the tip of the triangle, they will determine what they want their climax, or dramatic turning point to be. Students will write two separate events as they climb down the right side of the triangle for their falling action. They will finish with their resolution. This can be an independent task for students but you may also choose to have students put their brains together to complete a small group short story. I hope you enjoy!
