This product covers the 2016 Virginia (VA) Standards of Learning (SOL) 3.7 The student will estimate and use U.S. Customary and metric units to measure a) length to the nearest 1/2 inch, inch, foot, yard, centimeter, and meter; and b) liquid volume in cups, pints, quarts, gallons, and liters. note that this will also work for the 2023 VA SOL 3.MG.1 The student will reason mathematically using standard units (U.S. Customary and metric) with appropriate tools to estimate and measure objects by length, weight/mass, and liquid volume to the nearest half or whole unit. (except this one does not cover any weight/mass measurement notes) It contains notes pages on measuring the length of an object. It also has notes on customary and metric increments, as well as customary and metric capacity. There are practice pages for each topic, with an answer key included. The notes pages come in two sizes. The first size is a full-page size. You can print them as-is, or you can print them two to a pages. This is what I do as it saves on paper and the sheets will fit in a notebook. The second size is formatted to fit on a standard composition notebook page. Additionally, there are two links included in the pdf: one which opens a digital version of the notes, and another that opens a slide show version, optimized for a projector or interactive board. Each page focuses on a simple part of the water cycle, including evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection. The worksheets include clear diagrams, short explanations, and guided activities so students can understand the concept without feeling overwhelmed. This type of activity works well during science lessons, especially when students are being introduced to Earth science topics. It can be used as a whole-class activity, a science center, morning work, or extra practice after a lesson. I’ve used similar worksheets before, and students enjoy labeling diagrams and following the steps of the water cycle from start to finish.
