Teaching tips
The directions live on one page at the front; walk through it once and the six puzzles that follow need no further explanation
Marking is deliberately open - "COLOR OR CIRCLE - THE CHOICE IS YOURS!" - so the same sheet works with a pencil or a highlighter, and a coloured word is easier to spot when glancing over a finished grid
The six puzzles are grouped by sub-theme rather than graded from easy to hard, so they can be taken in any order, or split across a group with each pair working a different theme and reporting back
The booklet numbers its puzzles Page 1 to Page 6, which runs separately from the file's own page order - worth saying "puzzle 3" rather than "page 3" when setting the work
Two of the six themes reach beyond shape names - Shapes in Everyday Life and Jobs & Tools Using Shapes - and make a natural discussion starter about where shapes turn up outside the maths lesson
Skills covered
Multi-directional word searching - the instructions page sets horizontal, vertical both up and down, and diagonal words, so a solver has to sweep the grid on more than one axis.

Which directions do the hidden words run in?
Three, and the instructions page sets them out: horizontal from left to right, vertical both downwards and upwards, and diagonal from top-left to bottom-right. The same page tells solvers they may either colour the words in or circle them.
