A Holiday Play: Veterans Day Play This Veterans Day play written for grades 3-5 features a family who watches a Veterans Day parade. The family shares in the celebration of this day and finds out the history behind the special United States holiday celebrated on November 11th each year. What better way to honor the veterans who served in the military (Navy, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, and Marines) and those who gave their lives while fighting in a war than putting on a play to teach the students and audience about the significance of this day? There are 10 speaking parts: two children, parents, an announcer, 2 parade assistants, 3 narrators. An optional chorus and band can be added to accommodate any number of additional students. A Holiday Play: Veterans Day Play can also be read as a Readers’ Theater. Many of our students love learning in a variety of ways and music is one of those! We can retain information better when we hear it through songs and visual videos. This is one reason we like to incorporate music in our learning environments. We don’t have to limit music to music class only for our students. In my store, you’ll find a wide array of music resources that students will love to learn from. This is a music video for your math students in 3rd grade. The title of this song is “Doggies Divide.” This is a song and video that will have students learn about solving division problems. This video provides explanations and many examples to support student learning. You can implement this video at the introduction of teaching this math skill. The objective is to provide students with a visual and concrete example for solving a variety of division problems and being able to correctly use division strategies. This would be a song that I play multiple times for my students across the course of this unit . It is an MP4 file, so you can download it and have the option of embedding it into any slideshow you may be using for instruction. I hope you enjoy!

Practice reading words with the suffix -FUL with these sentence reading rings. Students will read words with the suffixes -ful in the context of sentences. Each card also includes a bold and colorful image to illustrate each sentence and to help students to learn the meanings of each word. What is Included: This resource includes one reading ring activity for the suffix ful. There are cards each featuring a different word with the suffix ful, with a sentence using the word in context and an image to illustrate that sentence. When to Use Early Finishers - If students finish their work early, they can use these reading rings for extra practice. Small Group Work - Teachers can use these reading rings to target small groups of students who need more practice reading words with suffixes. Independent Practice - Students can work independently at their desks to read this set of suffix cards. The Spy marks factional ship coordinates on a number line and hands it to the Control Tower. The Control Tower uses this information to give the Commander coordinates to attack. This activity leads to great discussions and really encourages children to think about others in a wide variety of social situations. I created these activities because my students were struggling to understand a variety of everyday social situations and how to handle them. The practice and discussion is very helpful for them.
