Turn Thanksgiving nostalgia into a creative masterpiece with the A Special Thanksgiving Memory Writing Prompt! This activity invites kids to stroll down memory lane (or at least last year’s kitchen chaos) to write and draw about their favorite Thanksgiving moment. Whether it’s Grandma’s famous pumpkin pie, a hilarious turkey mishap, or the time Uncle Joe fell asleep mid-sentence, no memory is too big or small to make the cut. First, students will put their storytelling hats on, probably stretchy ones to accommodate post-Thanksgiving feast bellies, and write about a memory that makes them smile, laugh, or even drool a little. Was it the parade, a backyard football game, or sneaking the first bite of dessert? This writing prompt gets their creative juices flowing faster than cranberry sauce out of a can. Once the words are on the page, it’s time to bring the memory to life with a colorful drawing. Turkeys with personality, pies with sparkle, and family portraits (possibly featuring stick figures) turn the story into a visual masterpiece. This activity isn’t just fun, it’s a great way for kids to practice descriptive writing and reflect on what makes Thanksgiving truly special. Bonus: it’s calorie-free, but just as satisfying as a second helping of stuffing! Enjoy!

Build A Turkey Fine Motor Activity
Math, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Thanksgiving, Counting, Early Math, Numbers, Kindergarten, Preschool, Activities, Centers
Students will have a ton of fun counting and recognizing fall colors while they build their own playdough turkeys! What is Included: This resource contains instructions for a fun build a turkey activity. There are also counting feather cards to help students build their turkeys. How to Complete: Students will first build their turkey's body out of playdough. They will add two googly eyes and a triangle beak to the front of their turkey. They will then take one of the feather cards and add the correct number and color of feathers to their turkey's body. If playdough is not an option, students can build turkeys out of clay, Styrofoam balls, or any substance that can either be shaped into a ball or allow for craft feathers to be poked inside. Another fun variation for this activity is instead of using the feather cards, students can roll a die to see how many feathers of a particular color to add to their turkey. When to Use: Fine Motor or Math Center - Place the cards and materials in the center for students to build their turkeys. Quiet Activity - Students can create a turkey quietly while their classmates nap. Partner Activity - Students can work together to create a turkey. This activity is a fun way for students to practice counting. They get to use their hands to build a turkey, which will help students stay engaged with the activity of counting. The feather counting cards are low prep. They just need to be printed and cut apart. The teacher may laminate the cards for durability if desired. The cards can easily be stored in a task box with the colored feathers when not in use. Skills Assessed: This activity allows students to practice counting, matching colors, and build fine motor skills.

Here is a brand new edition of my popular grocery game . There are three rounds (Back to School, Halloween, and Thanksgiving) with five food items each! This game allows students to practice estimating, adding, and multiplying with decimal numbers in a fun and engaging way! It is a fun, whole class activity that you need to be able to project in your classroom on an interactive whiteboard or screen-share for distance learning. As students play along, they practice estimating to stay within a shopping budget. They have to multiply and add with decimal numbers: all helpful realistic applications. Since this is a PowerPoint Presentation, you are able to move the boxes covering the price of each item after students make their guess: just like a real game show! Grades to Use With: This is a fun game for grades 3-6 when you are studying money, grocery shopping, and decimal operations. Even kids in middle school will have fun playing along! Standards: CCSS5.NBT.B.7 Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used. CCSS6.NS.B.3 Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation. CCSS4.NF.C.7 Compare two decimals to hundredths by reasoning about their size. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two decimals refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual model.
