This beginning sound sort for the letter B is a great hands on activity for recognizing the most common sound of the letter B. This is an easy and fun activity to give students who need practice with recognizing the letter B sound from amongst other letter sounds or for those students who need extra practice distinguishing between the initial sounds in words. To complete this sorting activity , students will look at a picture on a bear to determine if the picture begins with the letter B or does not begin with the letter B, and then the students will place the bear on the correct cave mat. What is Included: This set includes one number card and one number word card for all numbers up to 20. Ideas for Using the Number Cards: Invite students to play a matching activity by pairing each number with its corresponding number word. Turn the cards into a hands on fishing game by attaching paper clips and using a magnetic fishing rod for students to “catch” the numbers. In this resource, students will work together to solve Melody's Mystery! Melody is an actress and has lost something at the Golden Globe Award ceremony. Students will need to decide what is missing, who took it and where it is. Students will work together cooperatively and problem solve together to solve this mystery. There are 18 clues to be passed around to a group of students (4-5 students works best) and then they will read out loud each clue. As they read the clues, the group will eliminate the suspects one by one and there is one person who will cross off the ones that are incorrect. This is a great game for students to play to practice listening skills, leadership skills, problem-solving skills and deductive skills.
