Solve Linear Equations Domino Game

This file is a domino game for students to practice solving linear equations. The equations include variables on both sides of the equation, fractions and decimals, parenthesis, and negative numbers. Solutions include "no solution" and infinitely many solutions." Teacher Directions: Make copies of the dominoes on colored card stock, cut apart, and place in bags. You will need one bag for every 3 students. Place students in groups of 3. Students will divide the dominoes equally and lay them down face UP in front of them. The student with the "START HERE" domino will place it in the middle. Students will play matching dominoes one at a time. So, they will not play in order and a student could possible play twice in a row. If a student places an incorrect match, the student that calls attention to that fact, AND can explain WHY it is incorrect, can give one of their dominoes to the player that was incorrect. If every player says they do not have the next match, then players will look at their opponent’s dominoes and find the match. The player that finds the correct match from another player and can explain WHY it is the correct match can give one of their dominoes to that opponent. ONLY ONE domino can be placed on another domino even though there could be more than one to match. Exception: If no dominos match the last domino played, then a player may place a second domino on one that is already in play. The player with the most dominos can make this play. The player that gets rid of all of their dominoes first is the winner. Students should show all of their work on notebook paper and turn in at the end of the game.

Are you looking for fun activities for practicing number recognition? These pixel art worksheets are perfect for getting your students to practice number identification for the number 5! Different options for how to use this resource: Cut and paste You can choose to print the colour square pages on white paper. -This is the simplest option, but it will take a lot of colour ink. Or you can choose to print the black line squares pages on colour paper. -This will use a lot less ink, but it will take a little more work to prepare. -You may struggle to find colour paper in all the colours I have used. If you have a problem finding the right colours, you can generally substitute a different colour if you need to. Simply look at the answer key to see what the pictures are and choose an appropriate substitute colour. Colour by number You will only need to print the worksheets and allow the students to colour the squares themselves. Preparation: Worksheets 3 printing options: 1. Full colour - best if you will be able to use all the same colours that I have used. 2. Partial colour – I have left the colours blank. You will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . This is best if you need to make some substitutions because you are printing on colour paper and cannot find all the correct colours. 3. Black and white - like with the partial colour version, you will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . Squares Pages If you are using this resource as a cut and paste activity . 2 printing options: 1 .Colour squares pages (Print on white paper. Each page will have information telling you what picture it is meant for. Simply give each student a block with the different colour squares along with their worksheet) 2. Black line squares pages (print on colour paper. Each page will have information telling you which picture it is meant for, as well as the recommended colour paper to use, and how many students will be able to get their squares from one page. Cut on the dotted lines and give each student one section of each colour page for the picture they are working on.)
