This is one reason we like to incorporate music in our learning environments. We don’t have to limit music to music class only for our students. In my store, you’ll find a wide array of music resources that students will love to learn from. This is a music video for your math students in 4th – 6th grade. The title of this song is “A Cow Named Larry.” This is a song and video that will have students learn about multiplication and measurements. This video provides explanations and many examples to support student learning. You can implement this video at the introduction of teaching this math skill. The objective is for students to correctly solve multiplication problems and understand measurement. This would be a song that I play multiple times for my students across the course of this unit . Extreme Environments: Integrated Middle School Science and ELA Debate Activity This assignment is a great way to integrate earth science learning and the English language arts skills of speaking and listening. Students think of relevant reasons for and against humans exploring extreme environments such as the desert, space, and the deep ocean. How to Use: You can split your class into “for” and “against” before they brainstorm and research or afterwards (depending on if you want them to gather information for both sides or not). Then, you can have an informal class debate/discussion with students from each side presenting ideas and rebuttals. Finally, students sum up their personal thoughts in a paragraph. Will they side with what they presented, or will they be swayed by the other side's points? Student Instructions: Extreme environments like the deep ocean, space, volcanoes, and the arctic are full of wonderful sights and discoveries. However, there are downsides to allowing humans to explore these locations. Brainstorm and research reasons for and against allowing human exploration in extreme environments. The Southern Colonies in North America, a classroom skit

This play complements the other plays I have on TeachSimple about the colonial era in American History. You can also find the Life in the Middle Colonies and Life in the New England Colonies plays here. My 7th graders have enjoyed these for years. However, these work well for all grades between 6th and 12th. History comes alive in the classroom when students are using plays and skits. Reader's Theater is a great way to enhance any lesson, including the southern colonies, either to introduce some of the characteristics of this region or reinforce what you have been teaching. There are four roles in this play. It will take about 15-20 minutes to complete. Although the play was created by me it is based on an actual historical figure of that time - Henry Middleton and the Middleton family. The Middleton Plantation still exists in the Charleston area in South Carolina. The gardens he started are still there. All of my skits are written to engage students and get them thinking. This is what I call a "lesson enhancer". It will help add to any lesson on life in the southern English provinces.

Apply properties of operations to calculate with numbers in any form; convert between forms as appropriate; and assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies.For example: If a woman making $25 an hour gets a 10% raise, she will make an additional 1/10 of her salary an hour, or $2.50, for a new salary of $27.50. If you want to place a towel bar 9 3/4 inches long in the center of a door that is 27 1/2 inches wide, you will need to place the bar about 9 inches from each edge; this estimate can be used as a check on the exact computation.
