TinkerCAD step-by-step instructions for 3 different whistles. Students only need to know the bare basics to complete this. I tested this with a fifth-grade class and most could complete it with no help. Designed to print with no supports for easy printing. PDF file with TinkerCAD step-by-step instructions for 3 different whistles with 32 pages. I have used this instructions with students as young as 5th grade and as high as 12th grade. The 5th graders needed some help and guidance but middle schoolers and high school students usually did not need any help at all. 5th and 6th grade classes took about 2 hours to finish the project. Middle schoolers took about 1 hour, and high school students took about 30-40 minutes to finish. The referee whistle works like a regular whistle. The slide whistle works and make different sounds be sliding the insert back and forth to make different pitches. The train whistle works by having different lengths of hollowed out tubes which generate different pitches. Very detailed instructions. Students are expected to be familiar with TinkerCAD, and know the basics. There is a TinkerCAD tool guide within the instructions to aid in learning TinkerCAD. PITS & MASTABAS Introduces students to natural mummification and burials in sands and rock pits. They then learn about the construction of Mastaba tombs during the early Old Kingdom period and their appearance/sizes. PYRAMIDS Students learn about the development of pyramid building during the reign of Djoser with the construction of the Step Pyramid at Saqqara. The section then covers the development in pyramid building under the pharaoh Snefru with the construction of the Bent, Medium, and Red pyramids. Students then learn about the construction of the Great Pyramid at Giza and later pyramids built on the same site by his successors. Lastly they learn about the building of smaller mud-brick pyramids and the highly decorated pyramid of Unas. UNDERGROUND TOMBS Covers the First and Second Intermediate Periods when many older tombs were robbed and the decision by Egypt's rulers to begin burials underground in and around the Valley of the Kings during the New Kingdom period with the creation of large, highly decorated tombs. ACTIVITIES Students can work to create an illustrated timeline showing the history of tomb building. There is also an additional activity to help them learn about the different stages of the construction of the Great Pyramid. Students can also complete a fun crossword puzzle activity .

In this SEL Boom Deck, students will learn about flower (healthy), weed (bothersome) and cactus (unhealthy) friendship behaviors. It is important for students to learn some of the behaviors that are bothersome and frustrating and to learn that they do need to address these sooner rather than later. Just like a weed ignored or not wanting to be dealt with, it can get worse and impact the friendship in a negative way. Some examples of flower (healthy) behaviors are; letting your friends have other friends, being there to help, standing up for them (being an upstander), and many more. Some of the weed (bothersome) examples are; bragging, copying a friend, not paying a friend back for borrowing money, and more. Some examples of cactus (unhealthy) behaviors are; being mad if something good happens to a friend, putting a friend down, gossiping, not letting a friend join their other friends, and many more. There are 24 task playing cards and 5 instructional cards so this can be played as a whole classroom lesson, a small group lesson, with partners or assigned to individuals to do as homework. There is a handout that matches the concepts for students to fill out to remember the different friendship behaviors and a question about what they can do if there friend is exhibiting either a weed or cactus type friendship behavior. This is a Boom Deck that is great for 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and sixth grade. In this 7 slide Google Slideshow, you have a lesson that is low prep and engaging. Students will get hooked first by a short video about an ant getting trapped in a pen circle. There are many discussion prompts. Then students will connect the concepts from the video to real life SEL situations. There is an activity where students draw a circle on a piece of paper and write in the middle "I can't" and then on the outside of the circle they will write ideas on how to escape the "invisible" barrier. On slide 6, they will do an index card experiment-read the slide notes. Then students will do an exit activity about what next steps they would be willing to do to break out of their circles to do something new. It is not on the actual slide in case you do not have time to do this activity. This lesson is great for third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth. (Maybe even in high school as well.)
