Arctic Survival Team Building Activity
Social Studies, Grade 10, 11, 12, Activities, Projects
Without a doubt, history is a topic that can be easily overlooked by our students. Sometimes, it can be difficult for them to make connections with the past in a way that makes sense to them. Being able to provide students with meaningful resources is the best way to get over this learning curve. Whenever you have a social studies topic to introduce or review, you want to find engaging products that you know your students will be able to learn from. Within my store, you will find a plethora of social studies resources to utilize with your students. What You Get: This is an Artic Survival Team Building Activity. There are 13 slides in the presentation . There is a Survival Score Sheet as well as an Answer Key + Teacher Guide. All 3 products are editable and can be accessed digitally. How To Implement This Resource: This is a team building activity that will have students ponder what kind of process makes for “good decision making.” Students will begin by being presented with the following scenario: “Your plane has crash landed in Northern Canada at night. The crash has killed the pilot and co-pilot. You and the others have discovered 12 items in the wreckage. You will be asked to rank the importance of these 12 items to your survival. Then, your group and you will rank them together.” As the teacher, you can decide on how large or small you want the groups to be. When all students have finished their individual ranking, allow them to come together with their group and propose new rankings. This will require students to talk to one another and listen to other reasonings. When students have finished their group rankings, they will have the opportunity to reflect with 4 questions. Students may find that humans make better decisions when they are able to consider diverse experiences. The Answer Key provides a ranking and rationale that was composed by former instructor in survival training. Students will be able to use this answer key to notate the Expert Score on their Survival Score Sheet. I hope you enjoy!

Sorting non- identical objects - Large Pictures
Special Resources, Special Education Needs (SEN), Math, Early Math, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Activities
The activity involves sorting and grouping different non-identical items, which can be used to develop cognitive skills such as categorization, visual discrimination, and problem-solving. To begin the activity , the learner is presented with a sorting picture. Pictures include in this activity : dog doughnut ice cream bar apple shoes chair butterfly hotdog car rabbit socks happy face The next step is to provide the learner with six corresponding sorting cards, each picture non identical to the sorting picture. The items on the sorting cards may vary in color, size, shape, and other attributes, which allows the learner to practice visual discrimination and identify key characteristics of each category. The learner's task is to sort/group each individual sorting card to the correct sorting picture. This requires the learner to analyze and compare the different items, and determine which picture they belong to based on their similarities and differences. As the learner progresses through the activity , they can be challenged to group the items in different ways, such as by color, size, shape, or texture. This encourages the learner to think creatively and develop flexible thinking skills. This early learning sorting activity provides an engaging and interactive way to develop cognitive skills and promote learning in a fun and playful manner. This activity is easy to create and has large clean and clear of visual distractions which allows the learner to focus on the task at hand. First print and laminate all cards, then cut out the individual sorting cards and velcro to the corresponding picture activity mat. If have a coil binder you can coil bind this activity , or else you can three hole punch the mats and put them in a binder or use binding rings for many years of teaching and learning. Scientist Hans Krebs - Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Version (PDF & H5P) Hans Krebs – Cellular Respiration and the Discovery of the Krebs Cycle Fact Sheet, Quiz & Interactive Exercises (PDF + H5P) 🔁🧬 This 45-minute resource introduces students in grades 10–12 to Hans Krebs – the scientist who uncovered one of the most important metabolic pathways in our cells: the citric acid cycle, also known as the Krebs cycle. When teaching cellular respiration, many students can follow the basics of glucose breakdown and ATP production – but the details of what happens in the mitochondria often feel abstract. Krebs' discovery in the 1930s helped explain how cells extract energy efficiently from food molecules through a cycle of chemical reactions. It’s a key part of understanding aerobic respiration and metabolism. To make this complex process more accessible, I’ve created a structured lesson that includes a short informational text, a fact sheet, quiz questions with answers, and a creative partner task. All materials are available in color and black-and-white, plus there’s a digital H5P version for interactive learning. What’s included: A student-friendly text about Hans Krebs and the citric acid cycle A fact sheet to help visualize and summarize the steps of the cycle Quiz questions (with answer key) for quick review or comprehension checks A creative task where students develop and exchange their own questions in pairs Formats: Printable PDF and interactive H5P 💻 Answer key included ✅ I’ve used this resource during our unit on cellular respiration, often right after glycolysis and before moving on to the electron transport chain. It’s especially helpful for students who benefit from breaking down complex processes into steps. The partner activity works well for revision or as preparation for assessments. 🚀 Download now and bring the legacy of Hans Krebs into your biology lessons today! 📍 Best wishes, Heike from Lernfitness Did You Know? Oral Blending Picture Cards and Activities
Special Resources, ELA, Special Education Needs (SEN), Language Development, Phonics, Reading, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities
Here are three simple activities with supporting picture cards to help a child to learn to blend orally. Blending sounds orally can be a helpful pre-step to sounding out words in text, for some children who have difficulty hearing sounds in words. Introduction: I wrote them for an 8 yr old child whom I tutor. He has a smattering of phonic knowledge, but having not learned to blend properly is now guessing and unable to read fluently. This is a common problem, but it must not be allowed to persist or the child will not learn to read fluently or will take a very long time to do so. If you are asking the question: "Why can't my child read accurately?" or "Why does my child guess words?" the answer is: because s/he had not learned to blend. The ability to blend is a vital foundation for all further phonic work. without it, a child will struggle to learn to read. Objectives: These activities will help a child to both oral segment words to separate the sounds in each word and blend them to put them back together to me a word. The words chosen for these activities are not written down, so no actual reading is required, for we are training the child to hear sounds in words, and we do not want the child to memorise the patterns of letters in words before she/he is able to understand the relationship between letters and sounds as we hear them in words. What is included? 3 suggested activities 48 large picture cards in colour: 24 mixed sounds, 24 CVC words 48 small picture cards in colour and black and white: 24 mixed sounds, 24 CVC words Various baseboards Although these activities are most useful when a child is first beginning to blend CVC words, the words themselves contain other sounds that will most probably/may not yet have been taught. This is not a problem as the child will not see the word written down and will not be required to sound out any actual written words. These activities are listening activities. This is a deliberate act to limit the amount of exposure a child has to seeing CVC words, before working on blending with him/her, further limiting the possibility that a child will memorise the words before learning to blend. More You can use the material to make games of your own. Grades/ages Although these activities can be used with young children who are just beginning to blend they are most suited to reading intervention work with older children.

Match Letters - Identical and Non-identical Sorting Activity
ELA, Language Development, Pre-Reading, Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1, Activities
Match Letters - Identical and Non-identical Sorting Activity This alphabet matching activity provides multiple templates for students to practice identifying, sorting, and matching upper and lowercase letters. Educators can use these materials in whole group, small group, or individual settings to support letter recognition, an essential early literacy skill. The customizable templates allow teachers to tailor the activity to students' developmental levels. For example, emergent readers may focus on matching identical upper and lowercase letter pairs like Aa and Bb. More advanced students can challenge themselves by identifying non-identical letter matches like a-Z or m-M. Teachers appreciate the flexibility to reprint materials as needed to provide ongoing letter practice throughout the school year. This hands-on letter sorting activity engages young learners in identifying, discriminating between, and matching upper and lowercase letters. As students gain competency matching identical and non-identical letter pairs, they build the letter knowledge that underpins early reading success. Educators value having multiple templates to use this activity again and again to reinforce letter recognition skills.
