Basic Addition Song (8+1 to 8+9)

Basic Addition Song (8+1 to 8+9)
Math, Addition and Subtraction, Addition, Preschool, Grade 1, Songs, Activities

Introducing the Basic Addition Song (8+1 to 8+9) The Basic Addition Song is an innovative teaching resource carefully crafted to simplify the learning process of basic addition for kindergarten and Grade 1 students. It's a product targeted at educators seeking fun-filled methods to impart lessons. This strategy is hinged on the fact that many learners create more robust connections when lessons are delivered with music, making it particularly suitable for auditory and visual learners. The central belief here is that students are more likely to remember information associated with melodies, regardless of their age group. This resource comes in a one-minute long MP4 video format allowing easy integration into your class activities. Its versatility allows use during whole-class sessions, small-group discussions, or even homework tasks. How Does it Work? The methodology employed in the Basic Addition Song lies within pairing song-based instruction with math lessons. This creates an interaction between numeric concepts and musical elements thereby stimulating cognitive processes which then results in enhanced knowledge retention. By engaging with this resource over time, children get acquainted with how numbers from 8 plus 1 through to 8 plus 9 play out rhythmically—an ingenious method aimed at making simple sums less intimidating but rather extremely memorable! Herein, the rhythmic aspect serves as an additional recall tool while simultaneously introducing new number pairs which further reinforce learned content. Why Use This Resource In addition to reinforcing key classroom teachings, this tool also doubles excellently as a review instrument. Checkbox With this product - learning shifts from rote memorization towards fostering engagement by employing musically-backed education hence transforming understanding into an enjoyable activity rather than a tedious task. This educational tool not only promises academic enrichment but serves as a stimulating musical magnet that increases student engagement. Consequently, it helps to foster the development of intrinsic mathematical reasoning skills in young learners.

Final e/Silent e/split digraphs Phonic Game: Build a Tower!
ELA, Special Resources, Language Development, Phonics, Reading, Special Education Needs (SEN), Not Grade Specific, Activities, Games

Here is an ultra fun game to help pupils learn to 'Spot the 'e''' and change from vowel sound to vowel name! This game covers i/i-e a/a-e o/o-e When introducing the Final e/silent ‘e’/split digraphs/CVCV words, many children have difficulty quickly changing vowel names to vowel sounds and vice versa. This game can help to take the stress out of learning. How to play The game involves each player having a baseboard upon which to build his/her tower. Players aim to be the first to build their tower and win! Word cards containing both silent 'e' and CVC words are scattered on the table - with an 'oops' card hidden amongst them! Players take turns to choose a card. If it is read correctly, the player places it on his/her baseboard and begins to build a tower. Teachers and parents may give the child as much help as needed to read each word and turn it into a teaching opportunity. With more confident children, you can change the rules so that the card is returned face down to the table if it is not read correctly. If a player chooses the 'Oops' card, then the whole tower is wiped off the player's board and the cards are returned to the table, face down and play continues until someone manages to build their tower. Your pupils will have so much fun they will forget that they are learning! Games take the pain out of learning! Ease of preparation: The game is easy to make: simply print the baseboards and desired word cards, then cut up the word cards. Full instructions included Who can use the 'Spot the 'e' game? It can be used by: Parents Teachers Tutors. What is included in the Spot the 'e' Game? 2 baseboards 3 sets of word cards for each of i/i-e; a/a-e; and o/o-e. Instructions 1 PDF 8 pages

Elephants: Guided Reading Level Q with Lesson Plan

Elephants: Guided Reading Level Q with Lesson Plan
ELA, Resources for Teachers, Reading Comprehension, Reading, Science, Language Development, Life Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Geography, Social Studies, Grade 3, 4, 5, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Teacher Tools, Centers, Activities, Literacy Readers, Quizzes, Quizzes and Tests, Assessments, Lesson Plans

This Elephants (level q) guided reading book with lesson plan includes: Guided Reading Color Label (front cover x1) This is a quick way to match the book’s demands to what students can generally handle.. The overall goal is to use the level/color to pick books for several smaller groups. To qualify for a certain level, a student is expected to read a book from that level with about 90–94% accuracy. If a student is consistently accurate and understands, move up a level. If the student is struggling at that level, drop down and add more support. Each student will improve at completely different rates, but it is generally one of the best ways to check progress across the class. DOWNLOAD THE CATALOG TO VIEW ALL GUIDED READING BOOKS AVAILABLE (SORTED LEVELS A-Z) Pre-Reading Question (x1) Teacher asks the prompt aloud, can be while showing the cover or first page. Students share what they already know, or make educated guesses from the cover. Prompt them to use the target vocabulary. Write some of their responses on the board to look back at during the reading. Vocabulary Words (x5) Introduce the five words, best doing it one at a time. Start by saying it, while students repeat and then see if anyone knows what it means before reading further. Read through the meaning and try to briefly connect each word to a picture or gesture so it’s meaningful. Ask students to flip through the book pages and point to where they see each of the vocabulary words. While reading the book pause upon coming across one of the vocab words or read the sentence twice to make sure students understand the word has appeared. Optional: Ask students to raise hands whenever they see/hear one of the new words. Guided Reading Pages (x10) Check the book snapshot (below) for: primary topic - do you need to prep extra reading or intro materials on this? what is taught best - decide on 1-2 bullets to focus on, use the prompt or words provided here for best results. learning goals - what you are checking for students to be able to do after the session, elicit answers using prompts or words provided. key vocabulary (see section above). questions overview - so you know what is coming up and if you need to prep extra materials to assist understanding. Run the lesson You may have already looked at a few of the pages together, but you can show them some of the pictures again first to set meaning. Depending on how much time you have and how familiar your students are with guided reading class, you may want to read the book aloud first with the group first. Students whisper or partner read, while you listen in. If time, do it as a group, one student reading a page each. Use the guided page’s prompts to coach: “Check the picture / does it make sense?” “Point under the words / try the first sound” “Reread the sentence smoothly”. Try to focus more on one student per session (rotating every time), so you can work out if they are ready to move up or need to move down a level. Comprehension Questions (back cover x3) This is your way to check that students didn’t just say the words, but actually understood the text. First, let students answer by pointing to the page/picture and saying a short sentence. After any answer, follow with: “Show me where you found that in the text.” In bigger groups, have partners answer first (10–20 seconds), then call on 2–3 students to share. Differentiation tips: Emerging speakers/struggling readers: oral + pointing On-level: oral in a full sentence Higher: one written sentence or draw + label Book Snapshot Title: Elephants Genre: Nonfiction (informational) Subject: Life Science Primary Topic: Elephant species, adaptations, behavior, and threats Estimated Guided Reading Level (A–Z): Q What This Book Teaches Best Explains that scientists recognize three distinct species of elephants and describes physical differences (like ear shape and head shape) that fit their environments. Describes key body structures and functions (trunk muscles and “fingers,” tusks as elongated incisor teeth, sensitive skin). Shows behavioral adaptations for survival , including how elephants protect themselves from heat and insects by using water or mud. Highlights social organization and communication , including matriarchal herds and vocalizations such as trumpets, rumbles, and infrasound. Connects elephants to their ecosystems and conservation by explaining seed dispersal (African Forest elephants) and current threats like habitat loss and poaching for ivory. Learning Goals Describe the three elephant species named in the text and one physical difference mentioned between African and Asian elephants. Explain how elephants use their skin and what they do to protect themselves from heat and insects. Identify how the text describes an elephant’s trunk and list at least three things elephants use it to do. Explain what tusks are and give examples from the text of how tusks help elephants survive. Describe how elephants live in groups and how a matriarch helps keep a herd safe. Explain how African Forest elephants help plant new trees in the forest, according to the text. Key Vocabulary From the Text distinct — clearly different from something else. characteristic — an important feature that helps describe something. matriarchal — led by a female (mother) in the group. vocalizations — animal sounds used to communicate. endangered — in danger of disappearing because there are not many left. Discussion Prompts Pre-reading question: What do you already know about how elephants live and survive in their habitats? Comprehension questions: What are the three species of elephants that scientists recognize in the text? Comprehension questions: What does the text say elephants do to protect themselves from heat and insects? Comprehension questions: How do African Forest elephants help plant the next generation of trees in the forest? Printing Tips 1. Best Printing Method (Recommended) “Booklet” Printing (Best if Available) If your printer or PDF viewer supports Booklet Printing , use this. Settings to use: Print mode: Booklet Paper size: Letter or A4 (either works) Orientation: Landscape Print on both sides: Yes Flip on: Short edge Scaling: Fit to printable area Booklet subset: First test: Front sides only Then: Back sides only This will automatically: Pair pages correctly Put the cover on the outside Align everything for folding After printing, fold in half and staple along the spine . 2. If “Booklet” Printing Is NOT Available You can still print this correctly with manual duplex printing . Step-by-step: Open the PDF. Choose Print . Set: Orientation: Landscape Pages per sheet: 1 Print on both sides: Yes Flip on: Short edge Print all pages . Because each PDF page already contains two facing book pages, the result will still fold cleanly into a book. Thousands of Cored Education products are included with your TeachSimple membership. Different options for how to use this resource: Cut and paste You can choose to print the colour square pages on white paper. -This is the simplest option, but it will take a lot of colour ink. Or you can choose to print the black line squares pages on colour paper. -This will use a lot less ink, but it will take a little more work to prepare. -You may struggle to find colour paper in all the colours I have used. If you have a problem finding the right colours, you can generally substitute a different colour if you need to. Simply look at the answer key to see what the pictures are and choose an appropriate substitute colour. Colour by number You will only need to print the worksheets and allow the students to colour the squares themselves. Preparation: Worksheets 3 printing options: 1. Full colour - best if you will be able to use all the same colours that I have used. 2. Partial colour – I have left the colours blank. You will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . This is best if you need to make some substitutions because you are printing on colour paper and cannot find all the correct colours. 3. Black and white - like with the partial colour version, you will need to tell your students what colours to use for each number before they can start the activity . Squares Pages If you are using this resource as a cut and paste activity . 2 printing options: 1 .Colour squares pages (Print on white paper. Each page will have information telling you what picture it is meant for. Simply give each student a block with the different colour squares along with their worksheet) 2. First of all, as a dietitian, I think giving kiddos hands-on activities related to vegetables will encourage them to eat more healthily. Also, I was inspired by the story of Daniel and his friends who went on a "vegetable" only diet and proved to the Babylonian king that their diet was healthier than the Babylonians' diet. So, I thought it would inspire kids by combining biblical teachings with hands-on learning about vegetables. My God Created Series, including this God Created Vegetables workbook, is ideal for homeschooling families, Sunday schools, or family Bible studies! It is also appropriate for classroom use and multi-age families as there is something for everyone, regardless of reading level! I design my products to enhance children's understanding of God's creation while improving their literacy and cognitive skills. I believe this activity pack and Bible study will foster appreciation for the natural world and God's design. My activity pack is perfect for all ages, but particularly for students who are in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade, which makes it ideal for younger learners. The activities can be used in many settings, including the home, for Sunday school, or even family Bible study. All of my products are flexible and can be used for children with different learning styles, whether hands-on or not. I've provided answer keys for all activities, to make assessment of student progress and understanding as easy as possible. Inside, you will find: Handwriting & Reading Practice: Exercises to improve students' handwriting and reading skills, with the focus being vocabulary of vegetables. Memory Matching Game: To increase engagement and add variety to your students' school day. Bible Study Activities: These activities help students connect what the Bible says about vegetables with the importance of eating healthy. Assessment: As mentioned above, I've included answer keys to simplify student evaluation.
