About this resource
What's inside this resource
French -ER verbs with spelling changes can be difficult, and you can never have enough exercises to practice them. This product includes two exercises, focusing on the verbs: acheter, essayer, répéter, espérer, emmener, nettoyer, préférer, célébrer, considérer, posséder, envoyer, and protéger. This would be an easy in-class or homework assignment, and could also easily be used as a quiz.

Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
Conjugate French stem-changing verbs correctly in context, following a modeled example.
Select the appropriate stem-changing verb from a word bank to complete a sentence about seasonal activities.
Teaching tips
Work through the modeled example ('Elle achète des sandwichs') as a class before releasing students to the six independent sentences that follow the same pattern.
Remind students that not every verb in the seasonal word bank is used, since the instructions explicitly note that not all ten verbs apply.
Pair the two sections as a two-day sequence — guided practice with parenthetical cues first, then unguided selection from the seasonal word bank.
Skills covered
Stem-changing verb conjugation — students conjugate verbs like essayer, répéter, and nettoyer to match the subject of each sentence.
Vocabulary-in-context selection — students choose the correct verb from a ten-item word bank to complete a sentence about a specific season.
