Personal Carbon Emissions: Integrated Math and Earth Science Lesson What can people do to help protect planet earth? Can middle school students learn about global warming, climate change, and carbon emissions in an age-appropriate way? Can they determine their personal carbon footprint? This integrated science and math lesson contains everything you need to tackle these issues! A one-page handout that demonstrates the relationships between human use of fossil fuels, greenhouse gases, and climate change in straight-forward and easy to understand language (with helpful visuals). A two-page personal carbon emissions calculation worksheet. Students will apply basic decimal calculations (addition, multiplication) to calculate their estimated emissions of greenhouse gas equivalents per year. A one-page reflection for students to take time to reflect on what they have learned, what parts surprised them, and how they could take small steps toward starting to reduce their personal impact on the earth's environment. This is an Art History Research Project designed for your middle school and high school art students. The Learning Goals for this project are as follows: Students will research an art period with an emphasis on the artists, achievements and art styles of the selected period. Students will interpret and analyze a variety of works from their chosen art period. Students will create and design a Slide Deck that utilizes their research. Students will utilize the elements of art and design in the composition of their Slide Deck . Overview to present to students: For this project, you will be selecting and researching an art time period or movement of your choice. The periods range from Ancient to Modern (options are on the next slide). You can select a time period that most interests you. You will be researching this period or movement, the achievements of this time, famous and iconic artists during this time and more. You will then use your notes to create a Slides presentation with all of this information. This project is broken down into 4 phases. Phase 1 – Choose a time period or movement. Ancient World, European Art and Modern Art are the time periods included. Phase 2 – Complete the research for their time period or art movement. Phase 3 – Interpret and analyze at least 3 works from your time period or movement. Phase 4 – Create a Google Slides , Prezi, or any other form of visual to present your information. This Google Slides presentation is fully editable, so it allows the teacher to edit any information they need to, such as due dates. For each phase, the slides have place for students to type in their answers, responses, and research.

Being able to tailor instruction to their learning styles is just one effective way to increase student engagement and set students up for success.
