Finish and reinforce the KS3 current electricity module or revisit it prior to exams with this innovative, enjoyable and challenging escape room lesson. Prior knowledge required: · current, voltage and resistance – defining and understanding, units, measuring; · circuits and symbols; · series and parallel circuits – current, voltage, switches, lamps; · current and voltage varying with number of batteries; · Ohms Law. Pupils have to work their way through the clues to find the code to a box with a combination lock containing an antidote to a substance, accidentally ingested by the laboratory. The substance is the departments a prototype, orally administered sunscreen being developed by the department which has unfortunately been found to turn the skin of mice purple and which has not yet been tested on humans and is also therefore potentially toxic. The pack contains: · PowerPoint – scene setting and instructions (sound effects and built-in timer); · crossword ; · word search; · dominoes activity; · worksheet Differentiated over 2 versions); · code breaker sheet; · answer keys; · lesson plan. If time is limited just the crossword , word search and domino can be used. With a minimum of 50 minutes available one of the differentiated worksheets can also be used. The worksheet is the most challenging clue to solve and this can be omitted completely for less able classes. Both 3 and 4 number combination locks can be purchased very cheaply online if using an actual box containing an unopened bottle of a soft drink, with the label removed, for a member of the winning team to take to the technician. In the absence of a locked box, until the code is found, as each group completes a team member can be dispatched to the prep room for the technician to ”try the code”. Alternatively all the combination locks in the science department had been set to the same combination for an escape room lesson including the one used on the box with the antidote in the prep room. You don’t even need a class set of computer, a personal device (cell phone, laptop, tablet, etc. will work just as well). Digital interactive notebooks provide all the same means of organization and assessment but without the physical notebook. This… 1) Saves you from bringing them back and forth/storing them in your class. 2) Purchasing all the necessary supplies. 3) Having them get lost, misplace pages, etc. Once you purchase, you’ll get a direct link. This link will allow you to place your own copy of the digital notebook into your Google Drive folder. From there, simply distribute the file to your students. No notebooks, no glue, no scissors, not even a USB in sight. Everything is stored and can be assessed in the cloud from any computer in the world. If your students go on holiday, they can access it. Activity Introduction An amazing activity designed for the students to learn how does the lymphatic vessel work. The Lymphatic System Your lymphatic system is part of your immune system. It produces and releases lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) and other immune cells. Lymphatic Vessel Experiment The activity is designed to Elevate both eagerness for learning and researching skills for kids. Students will have fun experimenting how the lymphatic vessel works, while learning the importance of the lymphatic system. Lymphatic Vessel This friendly designed worksheet is suitable for students at school, homeschooling, and as a group activity. Instructions Place the straw inside the balloon, then tie the rubber band around its tip. Put the balloon inside the glass, then slowly fill the straw with water until they are both filled. What you created now is a lymphatic vessel (the straw), a skeletal muscle (the balloon), and the lymph (water). Now squeeze the balloon to imitate a muscle contraction, then write down your notes. Drop some sequins into the straw. Those sequins represent glucose, amino acids, or infections. Watch the sequins sink, then write down your notes.
