These letter Y playdough mats allow students to build those fine motor muscles while learning about things that begin with the letter Y. Each mat features an easy to recognize picture of a word that starts with Y for students to use playdough to create. These mats are suitable to preschoolers and kindergartners who are learning about the initial sound of the letter Y and those who need extra practice building up their fine motor skills. There are 3 different playdough mats in this set: Y is for yarn. Y is for yellow. Y is for yo-yo. Students can build their creations on the table top or directly on the playdough mat if laminated or placed in page protectors. When to Use Fine Motor Center Playdough Center Alphabet Center Literacy Center Independent Activity Small Group Activity Morning Tub or Basket Activity Table Top Activity Skills Assessed Fine Motor Skills Color Matching Beginning Sounds Letter Recognition The playdough mats themselves are no prep. The teacher will simply print them out, and laminate them if desired and place them in the appropriate center or activity area. All that needs to be added to this activity is different colored playdough or clay. These mats not only provide a fun and engaging activity for students to practice fine motor skills, they also provide a way for students to associate the initial sound of the letter Y to recognizable pictures. Teachers will love the easy set up for this center activity. By laminating these pages, teachers will have a reusable playdough center for students to use over and over. The playdough should not stick to the laminated pages. If laminating is not an option, I would recommend placing the playdough mats inside of page protectors or in plastic sleeves. The playdough will not stick to their surfaces as well.

Allow students to sort animals by which habitat they live in. What is Included: There are sorting card headers for each habitat. There are sorting mats for each habitat. There are three to six picture cards for each of the sets of sorting activities. The animal habitats included in this set include: Antarctic, Arctic, Beach, Desert, Forest, Grassland, Ocean, Pond, Rain Forest, and Swamp Each sorting mat includes a real life example of an animal that belongs in that particular habitat. All of the picture cards also include real photographs of each habitat. What Questions are Asked: To use these, students will lay out either the header cards or the sorting mats. They will then sort the animal images beneath or on top of the correct sorting mat. When to Use: Science Center - The sorting mats can be placed in a science center for students to learn about living things and where they live. Morning Work - These animal sorts can allow teachers to create quick and easy morning activities for students while they wait on their classmates to arrive to class. Independent Practice - These animal sorts are great for students to independently work on living things. Emergency Sub Plans - The low prep nature and easy to set up activity , makes these worksheets a great activity to leave with subs to assign to students. Small Group Activity - These animal sorts can be used in small groups so teachers can target the students who need extra practice with living things.
