Congruent and Non-Congruent Math Interactive Notebook

This product covers the 2016 Virginia (VA) Standards of Learning (SOL) 3.13: The student will identify and describe congruent and noncongruent figures. This product will also provide some extension for the 2023 VA SOL 3.MG .4 The student will identify, describe, classify, compare, combine, and subdivide polygons. It contains notes pages on the meaning of the word congruent, what qualities make two or more shapes congruent and what qualities do not. There are practice pages for each topic, with an answer key included. The notes pages come in two sizes. The first size is a full-page size. You can print them as-is. You can also print them two to a sheet (which is an option for most printers and copiers). This is what I do as it saves on paper and the sheets will fit in a spiral or composition notebook. The second size is formatted to fit on a standard composition notebook page (but it will also fit in a spiral notebook). Additionally, there are two links included in the pdf: one which opens a digital version of the notes, and another that opens a slide show version, optimized for a projector or interactive board. In both cases, which you click the link, you will be prompted to make a copy, which you can then use with Google Slides or download and use with Keynote or PowerPoint. What's included? Whereas textbooks can become outdated in no time, any changes to technology or the world will result in updates to this product. Mixed Questions The mixed questions section of each lesson includes a variation of fivecomprehension, vocabulary and math questions. In addition, key reading strategies are frequently covered including cause & effect, summarizing, compare & contrast and making conclusions. Three of the questions will be MCQs and two will require a written response of some kind. Full answers and example responses appear at the end of the lesson. Spelling & Vocab Each reading passage contains a variety of words and phrases designed for Grade 2-3 students. Spelling and vocab activities provide the opportunity to build fluency with these words. As it can become quite mundane doing the same activities over and over, each lesson in a set will contain a different spelling and vocab activity . Writing Prompts Writing prompts are designed to continue the theme or lessons learned in the story. Students are persuaded to write in a variety of ways and each prompt includes several cues to help. As with the spelling/vocab section, writing prompts will vary. This includes research pieces, reading responses, poetry and creative writing prompts. Mixed question answers provide evidence from the text, math questions contain the relevant workings. Answers are designed for use by the teacher, but also suitable as a handout to the student. This OR Digraph decodable reading book + matching PowerPoint for guided reading is part of a series that can help children with special needs pupils develop reading fluency. Each book has a matching PowerPoint, making it suitable for various settings. This book tells the story of Caligula's attempt to conquer Britain. The Jack Stories, of which this book is one, introduces one phonic sound at a time, and subsequent books build on the vocabulary of the books before, constantly revising and reviewing learned sounds. Irregular sight words are only slowly and gradually introduced. Science of reading aligned. Based on the most up-to-date phonic research. These books should be read sequentially as they tell one long story, each telling a part. This book contains words with the following sounds: CK: OO, EE and SH and CH, ND & NT Endings, TH, AR and OR. The series of books can also be purchased as a growing bundle with a scope and sequence - one file, less clutter! This series has been written with the aid of one of my pupils, aged 8. He has drawn some of the pictures. What makes this phonic reading programme for special needs different? · It has its own, easy-to-download and print phonic reading books, making it accessible to many children worldwide. · Each book carefully builds on the vocabulary of those that have gone before, providing much repetition, without relying on predictable text. · Pictures aid the storyline without encouraging reading from the pictures – i.e. guessing. · The vocabulary is based on phonic families, which are introduced in a carefully planned way. · True sight words – those that cannot be sounded out - are kept to a minimum. Most words are introduced in their phonic family wherever possible. · It is truly multisensory, using the power of the hand. We not only look at the words, but we write them too. This is powerful and has the bonus of turning the child not only into a reader but into a writer as well. Typical signs that this programme can help: Those with dyslexia, or suspected of having dyslexia Difficulty recalling words when seen on flashcards or when reading texts, which results in no or little reading fluency b/d letter reversal of a chronic nature – i.e. the child has not grown out of it Difficulty ordering letters in words: E.g. top becomes pot. Affixes Puzzles for Prefixes and Suffixes

Practice building words with affixes with these prefix and suffix puzzles. Students will have fun building words with prefixes and suffixes with this this literacy activity. What is Included: These resource contains 48 three piece puzzles that feature the word's definition on the top piece, the root word on another piece and the prefix or suffix on the 3rd piece. There are four puzzles to each printed page making these puzzles the ideal size for morning tubs, baskets or task boxes. When to Use Early Finishers - If students finish their work early, they can use these puzzles for extra practice. Small Group Work - Teachers can use these puzzles to target small groups of students who need more practice. Literacy Center - Students can practice building words individually or with a partner in a literacy center . Morning Tub or Basket - Students can work independently or with a partner to complete the puzzles while waiting on classmates to arrive at class. Tasks Boxes - These puzzles fit well in tasks boxes making literacy centers easy to set up and put away. Other ways these puzzles can be used is to add magnets to the back of each piece and use a baking tray or magnetic board to build each word and match each word's definition. These affixes puzzles are a low prep activity for students to practice words with prefixes and suffixes. The teacher simply needs to print the puzzles on card stock, cut apart each puzzle, then place the puzzles in the desired location for students to complete. Printing on colored card stock will give these puzzles a colorful pop! These puzzles include American, British and Australian spellings for root words.

Long and Short E: Quiz Game Sample Game Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game Note 1: Upon opening you will come across a password prompt. Press 'read only'. Note 2: You may need to allow ActiveX controls to use the scoreboard. The game starts will the front screen. Press the arrow in the bottom right to move onto round 1 - short E. There are ten questions in each round, click on one of these buttons to go to that question. There are a mix of options and marks available. Click on the correct answer. Incorrect answers will go dim. Correct answers will flash, all the incorrect answers will dim, small picture will appear. At this point if you are using the scoreboard, click on scores. You can edit any of the boxes and don't need to leave slideshow to edit it - the team names and scores. Simply input using keyboard. You can't save this to use another time in the future but you can use it for as long as the PPT is open. From there you can go to Round 1 or 2 by clicking on the buttons at the bottom. Upon returning to the question screen, any questions already answered will be blank (ie. no text) so you can keep track of those answered. Once you finish round 1 the button for round 2 is on the round 1 question board or alternatively from the scoreboard. With a round dedicated to both short and long E, students will practice reading phonics words while enjoying themselves at the same time. There is a real opportunity to play in teams and with 20 questions available, each with multiple options as answers, this sure is a way to get the whole class involved.
