This letter K flipbook is the perfect tool to help preschoolers and kindergarteners learn all about the letter K! The different pages in this flip book allow students to practice recognizing the letter, writing the letter, and identifying words that begin with the letter. What is Included: This flip book has a cover page for students to simply color. The seek and find page practices letter recognition by having students identify capital and lowercase forms of the letter. The find and color page practices letter recognition of the target letter from other letters of the alphabet. Students can use dot markers to mark the letters, they can color in the letter or use stickers to cover the letters. The cut and paste page allows students to work with scissor skills to cut out examples of the letter from either printed materials, like magazines or newspapers, or students can use the letters provided at the bottom of the page. The trace and write page allows students to practice tracing and writing the capital and lowercase forms of the letter. The beginnings sound page has students coloring the pictures that begin with the letter. The trace and draw page has students tracing a word that begins with the letter, then drawing a picture to represent that word. When to Use: Literacy Centers - This flip book can be placed in a literacy center for students to work on identifying the letter. Morning Work - This flip book is a perfect morning work activity. Doing one or two pages each morning, students can finish one flip book a week. Homework - These flip books can be sent home for parents to work with letter recognition with their children. I Survived the Black Death 1348 – Book Study Unit

This is a very engaging, rigorous, and fun book study unit that the students will learn and grow from. There are 10 lessons with 15 rigorous comprehension, vocabulary, and figurative language questions for each. Each lesson covers two chapters as well in this 20 chapter book. After each lesson is finished, their is a 5-point rigorous Exit Quiver Quiz the teacher can administer which equals 10 total quizzes. The quizzes are full of comprehension, context clue vocabulary, figurative language, inferencing, main ideas, tone, themes, and much more. For every four chapters or two lessons there is a rigorous fill-in-the-blank vocabulary test with the ten words from the lessons. There are five 10-point vocabulary tests along with 50 Context Clue Practice Sentence Cards to help with the tests! Great for group activities, too! There is also a WordArt Vocabulary Template to Learn words in a fun, artistic way! At the end of the unit, there is a 25-point multiple choice test as well. There are two writing prompts: a mini-research prompt and a memoir prompt. A 4-Page Summary/Main Idea Activity Packet to help with Writing Summaries and Main Ideas has been added! An Exemplar is included from chapter 2 to help the students!

In this math lesson, your students will Learn the definitions of multiplication, division, and estimating Determine which operation to use (multiplication or division) to solve a real-life word problem Use rounding and benchmarks to estimate a solution Calculate the solution with the standard algorithm Think of another way to reach the solution Self-assess their skill Grades to Use With: This lesson is designed for students in grades 4-6 who are learning and/or practicing their multiplication and division skills using the standard algorithm AND a variety of other estimating and benchmark methods. It includes three-digit products, one-digit divisors, and division with remainders. How to Use: Go over the first page together as a class. Review the definitions of multiplication, division, and estimating. Then complete the first word problem together- modelling the 4 steps: choose the operation, estimate, solve, and solve using an alternate method. Then you can let students work on the five other problems independently or in small groups. They could do some of the problems in class and a couple of them for homework. I have included a quick self- assessment at the end, so you can see which steps students are confident with and which are a bit more challenging. My students often struggle to think of an alternate method to solve the problem, so I can target some small group support for that skill. Here’s an engaging, summer-themed, real-world math budget project for your middle grades students (in grades 5-8). The math project incorporates useful personal finance and financial literacy skills along with realistic budgeting. Each student in your class is going to plan their purchases for a summer camping trip with friends! How to Use: You will assign each student in your class a budget (I recommend between $400-$1,750). A $400 budget will be challenging, and the student might only be able to bring one friend and buy mainly low-cost items. On the other hand, a $1,750 budget will be much more luxurious, and that student will be able to more friends and choose many fancy items. Students work within their budgets, picking a low, middle, or high-cost choice for each category (tent, sleeping bag, cooler chairs, food and more). Certain items must be multiplied by the total number of campers while others (like a stove) do not. Students will add up their eleven choices and make sure they stay within their budget. They might need to make a few trade-offs and skip desired items to ensure they have the things they can't camp without. Finally, your students will calculate how much money they have left, and they will answer reflection questions shopping within a budget, earning more money, or buying things used. Your students will learn how to spot these biases and re-create the graphs in a more fair manner. This is real-life learning that will serve your students long past your graphing unit. It's a crucial life skill that is often not taught in school. Here’s a real-life math lesson that will be a great addition to your middle school graphing unit! Students are shown three unique and realistic graphs Each one presents information in a biased or misleading way. With step-by-step instructions, your students will be guided through the basics: 1) Carefully reading and interpreting each graph: the axes, the scales, the data that is included 2) Noticing any biases or manipulations that may be present 3) Determining what the author probably wanted to guide them to think when reading the initial graph On the second page for each situation, students are given extra information and tasked with re-creating the graph more fairly. Blank graphs (with scales and labels) are given to students; they will use the information provided in each table to create a new graph that displays the data in an accurate way. Reflection prompt questions are also included to stimulate discussion and students explaining their ideas in words.
