When introducing OO words, many children have particular difficulty sounding out short OO words. This game can take the stress out of learning. How to play The game involves each player having a baseboard upon which to build his/her tower. Players aim to be the first to build their tower and win! Word cards containing both long and short OO words are scattered on the table - with an 'oops' card hidden amongst them! Players take turns to choose a card. If it is read correctly, the player places it on his/her baseboard and begins to build a tower. Teachers and parents may give the child as much help as needed to read each word and turn it into a teaching opportunity. With more confident children, you can change the rules so that the card is returned face down to the table if it is not read correctly.
