Spelling Crossword On the Farm

Spelling Crossword On the Farm
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Language Development, Vocabulary, Spelling, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, Crosswords Puzzles, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables

This crossword puzzle about all the things you can find on a farm. This is designed for spelling practice but is also suitable for elementary students as back to school or holiday activity. When you fill the crossword correctly, you will find a hidden message! In this crossword, there are images as hints and the students have to name the images to the horizontal rows of the crossword. The lines are connected so when the crossword is filled correctly, a hidden message will appear in the emphasized vertical row. The hidden message will be: Farming is a part of agriculture. The benefit of this kind of crossword puzzle is that once students understand the simple concept, they are able to proceed themselves regardless of their level. The answer of the crossword is on the second page, but students are able to tell whether they are right or not. If the hidden sentence is meaningful, then have done it right. If it doesn’t make sense, they will realize that; and then they can co-operate with their classmates to find the right solution. In other words, this worksheet is self-checking. This is a print-and-go and ready-to-use resource which can also be added to centers , or provided for substitute teachers. As this particular crossword is a bit on the longer side, I would recommend this for small groups or pairs. Individual work is also possible. There are also other spelling crosswords like this in my Teach Simple page: https://teachsimple.com/contributor/thebrightestkid There are 27 words in this crossword such as horse, silo, greenhouse, goat, flour, wheelbarrow, turkey and harvester. Answers are included.

Measurement Capacity word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Measurement Capacity word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles

Measurement Capacity word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this measurement capacity puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our math unit. The kids could pour water but had no idea what cups, pints, quarts, gallons, or liters were for measuring how much a container holds. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like capacity, liquid, volume, cup, pint, quart, gallon, liter, milliliter, fill, container, measure, estimate, and compare. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the capacity vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how many cups are in a pint. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple measuring cup and jug drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name which is larger a quart or a gallon on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Native American Traditions word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this Native American traditions puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our social studies unit. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like tradition, culture, tribe, clan, chief, elder, shaman, powwow, ceremony, legend, totem pole, kachina, dreamcatcher, cradleboard, moccasin, wampum, petroglyph, parfleche, pemmican, lacrosse, travois, and wigwam. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a tipi and a wigwam are the same thing (they're not — tipis are cone-shaped and used on the Plains, while wigwams are dome-shaped from the Northeast). The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've looked at pictures of different tribal traditions. I added a couple simple feather, tipi, and drum drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one word from the puzzles and draw a picture or write a sentence about it on the back. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the French greeting vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether "bonjour" and "bonsoir" are used at different times of day. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple waving hand and smiley face drawings but nothing too busy. Works for K through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write three French greetings they can use in class on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Stagecraft Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this stagecraft vocabulary puzzle set for my 4th graders during our theater unit. The kids loved being on stage but had no idea what words like backstage, fly system, or follow spot meant when we talked about what happens behind the scenes. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like stage, backstage, wings, fly system, curtain, set, prop, costume, lighting, sound, follow spot, spotlight, headset, stage manager, cue, blackout, trap door, and crew. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the stagecraft vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or drama class. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the fly system actually flies actors or just scenery. The crossword I use for partners or as a review before a school play. I added a couple simple stage curtain and spotlight drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers name one behind-the-scenes theater job on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Context Clues Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this context clues puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our reading comprehension unit. The kids would skip over words they didn't know instead of using the surrounding sentences to figure them out. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like synonym, antonym, example, definition, clue, sentence, meaning, unknown, infer, predict, connect, compare, contrast, describe, and explain. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the context clue strategies finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a synonym clue or an antonym clue is easier to spot. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple magnifying glass and book drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write a sentence with a made-up word and give a context clue for it on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Communication Skills word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this communication skills puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our social-emotional learning unit. The kids could talk to each other but had no idea what words like communicate, listen, or body language meant when we talked about how we share ideas and feelings. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like communicate, listen, speak, share, ask, body language, eye contact, tone, respect, and understand. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the communication vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether listening is more important than speaking. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple ear, mouth, and talking face drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one way to show they are listening on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
