This resource includes as set of sentence cards that focus on AT words and early sight words. Each sentence has a colorful picture to match the sentence.
How to Use this Resource:
In this literacy activity, students will read each sentence on each card, and then they will match the sentence to the correct image. This activity will make a great literacy station for kindergartners and first graders who are learning CVC words and reading comprehension. This literacy activity allows students to receive tons of practice reading AT words in the context of sentences.
These simple sentence and picture matching activity will allow students to have a tactile way to practice reading comprehension that focuses on words in the AT word family. They will stay engaged and have fun as they complete this literacy activity. Students can work independently or with a partner to complete this literacy center.
Alternative Ways to Use this Resource:
The teacher can place magnets on the back of each picture card and sentence card, and then use a cookie tray to sort the cards. The magnets will keep the cards from sliding around.
The teacher can place the sentence strips in a file folder and place hook and loop fasteners to the picture cards and the file folders to make file folder sorting activity.
Where to Use:
Morning Tubs or Baskets - These cards can be placed in a morning bin for students to complete as they wait for their classmates to arrive to class.
Literacy Center - Place the cards in a literacy center for students to complete alone or with a partner.
Small Group Instruction - Teachers can pull aside small groups of students to complete this activity.
