Aviation Careers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this aviation careers puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our career exploration unit. The kids loved planes and spaceships, and they always asked questions like "Do you have to be a pilot to work at an airport?" or "What do people do in the control tower?" So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like pilot, flight attendant, air traffic controller, aircraft mechanic, aerospace engineer, drone pilot, flight dispatcher, and pilot instructor. I also made sure to include "U.S. Navy naval aviator" and "private pilot" because the kids were fascinated by the different types of flying jobs and what it takes to get licensed.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether an air traffic controller actually talks to planes or just watches them on a screen. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched a few short career videos. I added a couple simple airplane, helicopter, and radar screen drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one aviation career from the puzzles and write what they do on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
