Money Activities

This resource is a Coin Value Work Mat.

Students will work with all four of the what I call the "most common coins" - pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.

On the work mat, students will:

• - Match each coin to the actual-size photo

• - Show the value of each coin with pennies

• - Show a new way to make 10 cents without using pennies

• - Show a new way to make 25 cents without using pennies

The coins are printed in color and the sheets work well when laminated for durability and reuse.

This activity is simple, yet very hands on, so students stay engaged and get experience with real coins instead of just working with pictures of coins in a workbook. They have fun stacking the coins and. comparing the sizes of each coin. They can use different coins to find the same value.
