Culinary Arts Careers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this culinary arts careers puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our career exploration and home economics unit. The kids loved talking about food and cooking, but they had no idea that chefs, bakers, and food stylists are real careers or that words like "knife skills" and "plating" matter so much. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like chef, baker, pastry chef, caterer, sous chef, line cook, food stylist, nutritionist, dietitian, and restaurant manager. I also made sure to include "mis en place" because the kids loved saying it, and "flavor profile" because it's a great conversation starter about food science.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between a chef and a cook or whether a food stylist is a real job. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched a few short career videos. I added a couple simple chef hat, rolling pin, and whisk drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one culinary career from the puzzles and write what they do on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
