Farm Equipment word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this farm equipment puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our community helpers and agriculture unit. The kids loved visiting farms and seeing big machines in the fields, but they didn't know the correct names for all the equipment or what each machine actually does. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like tractor, combine, baler, plow, planter, sprayer, harvester, cultivator, forklift, and wagon . I also included terms like drill and seeder because they kept coming up in our conversations about how seeds get planted . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the farm equipment vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "combine" or whether a "baler" and a "hay baler" are the same thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've looked at pictures of different farm machines and talked about what each one does on a farm .

Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one piece of equipment from the puzzles and draw a picture of it or write what it does on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
