French Basics Numbers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this French basics numbers puzzle set for my 2nd and 3rd graders during our French unit. The kids could count in English but had no idea what words like un, deux, or trois meant when we started learning French numbers. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix, onze, douze, treize, quatorze, quinze, seize, dix-sept, dix-huit, dix-neuf, and vingt. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the French number vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether the "s" in "sept" is silent or not. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple French flag and number block drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 2nd through 4th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write the French numbers from one to ten in order on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
