Global Citizenship word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this global citizenship puzzle set for my 4th graders during our social studies unit. The kids knew they belonged to their town and country but had no idea what it meant to be a citizen of the world. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like global, citizen, world, community, respect, kindness, environment, recycle, peace, justice, share, help, culture, planet, and responsibility. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally click.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether one person can make a difference in the world. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple Earth and handshake drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers list one thing they can do to be a good global citizen on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
