Grade 4 Geometry word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
I made this geometry puzzle set for my 4th graders during our math unit. The kids could draw a line and a square but had no idea what words like parallel, perpendicular, or acute meant when we started using geometry vocabulary. They also kept mixing up the types of angles and lines. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like point, line, ray, line segment, angle, right angle, acute angle, obtuse angle, parallel, perpendicular, intersecting, polygon, quadrilateral, triangle, and symmetry . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick.
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "perpendicular" or whether a square is a rectangle (it is—they always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a geometry anchor chart or shape cards nearby for the kids who need the visual support to see the concepts . I added a couple simple line, angle, and shape drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw an acute angle and an obtuse angle on the back and label them. The kids actually ask for these now.
