Kindergarten My Body word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
I made this My Body puzzle set for my Kindergarteners during our beginning of the year health unit. The kids could point to body parts but had no idea what words like stomach, elbow, or chin meant when we started naming them. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like head, hair, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, neck, shoulders, arms, elbows, hands, fingers, chest, stomach, back, hips, legs, knees, ankles, feet, and toes. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick.
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "shoulders" or whether the elbow is above or below the shoulder. The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a body poster or a drawing of a child with labels nearby for the kids who need visual support. I added a couple simple body outline and face drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for Pre-K through 1st grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a picture of themselves and label a few body parts on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
