Kindergarten Numbers 1–10 word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this numbers 1–10 puzzle set for my Kindergarteners during our beginning of the year math unit. The kids could count objects but kept mixing up the number words and symbols. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten. I also threw in the digits themselves (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) and a few early counting sentences to reinforce the connection between the symbol and the word . Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the number vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "eight" or whether "seven" is bigger than "six" (they always have opinions about it). The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have a set of number cards nearby for the kids who need visual support . I added a couple simple star, apple, and block drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for Pre-K through 1st grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw a picture of five of something on the back and write the number word. The kids actually ask for these now.
