Kindergarten School Supplies Words word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this school supplies puzzle set for my Kindergarteners during our first week of school. The kids were learning the names of the things they use every day—pencils, crayons, scissors—but they kept mixing up the words and couldn't remember which was which when I asked them to "get out your scissors." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like pencil, crayon, marker, scissors, glue, tape, ruler, eraser, backpack, folder, paper, book, and desk. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the vocabulary finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "scissors" or whether "tape" and "glue" are the same thing. The crossword I use for partners or as a review, and I usually have pictures of each supply item nearby for the kids who need visual support. I added a couple simple pencil, scissors, and crayon drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for Pre-K through 1st grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers draw their favorite school supply on the back and label it with a word from the puzzle. The kids actually ask for these now.
