Product description
From the author
Let students get creative with these letter outlines for alphabet crafts or activity mats. These mats have a variety of uses from hands on alphabet center activities to sorting activities for letter recognition or beginning sounds. This packet contains the letter B!
What is Included:
* Two capital letter mats
* Two lowercase letter mats
* Two mats with both the capital and the lowercase letter
By having several varieties of each alphabet mat, teachers are able to choose the mat that best fits their letter curriculum. All of the letter mats are full pages. Each letter has bold outlines and are in easy to recognize fonts so students can easily identify and recognize the letter they are working with.
Ways to Use
* Alphabet Craft Templates
* Bulletin Board Letters
* Sorting Mats
* Manipulative Mats
One popular way to use these mats is to use B for a student whose name begins with B to create a name craft for them to complete by letting students decorate the letter any way they choose.
Craft Ideas for the Letter B:
* bug, ball, bird or other "B" word stickers
* make a butterfly using 2 B templates as wings
* black, brown or blue collage
Skills Assessed:
* Following Directions
* Letter Recognition
* Identifying capital and lowercase letters
* Beginning Sounds
* Fine Motor Skills
The skills assessed with these mats will vary based on the activity given. Students completing crafts will practice letter recognition and following directions. Those using the mats for building letters will practice fine motor skills and letter recognition. By using the mats for a sorting activity, students will work on identifying beginning sounds as well as sorting capital and lowercase letters.
The letter mats themselves are no prep. The teacher just needs to print them out and give them to students with the required materials to complete the desired activity.

Teaching tips
Use the combined capital-and-lowercase mat when introducing the letter, then switch to the single-case mats for follow-up practice or craft activities once students know which form they're working with.
Reuse the same blank outline mat for different purposes across the year — as a bulletin-board letter one month and a sorting/manipulative mat for letter-recognition practice another — since the design itself carries no single fixed activity.
For a name craft, use B for students whose names begin with B; other initials require separate templates.
Skills covered
Letter recognition — students identify and work with the bold-outlined capital and lowercase forms of the letter B.
Fine-motor craft skills — students decorate, trace, or fill a large letter template as part of an alphabet-craft or name-craft activity.
