Letter X Word Scramble Worksheet

Hey teachers! Here's a hands-on word scramble I use with my kindergarteners when we're learning about the letter X. This 2-page printable has 12 age-appropriate words that start or end with X - like "fox," "box," and "xylophone."

I made these scrambles extra friendly for little hands:

• Big, clear fonts

• Picture clues next to tougher words

• Only horizontal orientation (no diagonal/backwards)

• Short words (3-5 letters max)

We use this during our letter X week in three ways:

1. Morning table work (with magnetic letters to help)

2. Small group activity (I read the words aloud first)

3. Take-home practice (parents love the included answer key)

The kids especially like the picture hints for words like "x-ray" (I drew a simple bone) and "ax" (a cartoon woodcutter's tool). Last year, my class begged to do it twice - once with crayons, once with stamps!
