Make it Equal! directions: partition shapes into equal areas, match each to its unit fraction, then do the practice sheet
Read aloud to introduce the matching game and worksheet
Unit fraction matching cards: circles split into eighths, fourths and halves pair with 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 number cards
Cut apart for a partner or small-group matching center
More unit fraction matching cards: circles in sixths and thirds and a rectangle in ninths pair with 1/6, 1/3 and 1/9
Second card set; mix with the first set before play
Partitioning practice: students draw lines to split blank circles, rectangles, a square and a triangle into unit fractions
Independent follow-up or exit check after the card match
