Sight Words Grade 2 word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this sight words puzzle set for my 2nd graders during our reading unit. The kids could read chapter books but still got stuck on longer common words like "because," "thought," or "through." So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like always, around, because, been, before, best, both, buy, call, cold, does, don't, fast, first, five, found, gave, goes, green, its, made, many, off, or, pull, read, right, sing, sit, sleep, tell, their, these, those, upon, us, use, very, wash, which, why, wish, work, would, write, and your. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the second grade Dolch words finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how to spell "because" or "through." The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple star and notebook drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 2nd through 3rd grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one word and use it in a sentence on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
