Social Work Careers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

Social Work Careers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
I made this social work careers puzzle set for my 4th graders during our career exploration unit. The kids had heard of social workers but had no idea what words like advocate, case management, or clinical meant when we talked about all the ways social workers help people and communities. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like social worker, advocate, case management, therapy, community, child welfare, mental health, substance abuse, crisis, and outreach. I also threw in a few like "licensure," "clinical," "hospice," and "school social worker" because they kept coming up when we looked at different career paths.
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between a social worker and a counselor or whether you need a master's degree to be a clinical social worker (you do, in most places) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched a few short career videos. I added a couple simple heart, handshake, and building drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one social work career area from the puzzles and write what they do on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
