Sound Hound title page with game directions: spell 3-4 letter words with letter bones, blend the sounds and check answers
Read aloud to model the game before students play
Sound mat: a picture card goes in the doghouse and students place one letter bone in each of three dog bowls to spell it
Phonics center mat; print one per student or pair
Picture cards 1-15 to sound out, including sun, dog, jar, fox, bug, cat, pig, mug, boy, car, map, hat and bed
Cut apart and stack face down for the doghouse
Picture cards 16-30 to spell, such as bus, flag, crab, fish, frog, star, lip, jam, nut, stop, drum and gum
Second card set, mixing in blends and digraphs
Lowercase letter dog bones a through n for students to cut out and use when spelling each pictured word sound by sound
Cut out and laminate for repeated center use
Lowercase letter dog bones o through z, completing the alphabet set students place in the bowls to build words
Store with the a-n bones in a labeled bag
Blend and digraph dog bones st, cr, dr, sw, fl, fr and sh for spelling words like stop, crab, drum, swim, flag and fish
Add these bones when students reach cards 16-30
