USA Flag with Names of Colonies and States Included

This 10=page PDF file contains a large USA flag poster, made of 4 pages taped together. There is a color version for your classroom wall, and a black and white version for students to color and take home. The 13 colonies and their years of establishment are written in the stripes, and the 50 states and their years of statehood are written in the stars. Also included are a blank USA flag (one-page, 8.5x11), and a mini one-page black and white flag, which includes the names of the colonies, but not the states. This product fulfills the K-5 Social Studies Common Core standard: recognizing national symbols, and also relates to the 5th grade standards for US History and Geography, having to do with the Revolutionary War and the establishment of the 13 colonies. This item helps kids practice recognizing state abbreviations. It could also be used for the fourth of July.
