Veterinary Careers word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this veterinary careers puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our career exploration and animal unit. The kids could name a few jobs like vet and vet tech, but they had no idea about the range of careers that care for animals—or what words like diagnosis, treatment, or surgery meant when we talked about what animal doctors actually do. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like veterinarian, vet tech, zoologist, animal behaviorist, wildlife, farm, clinic, hospital, pet, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. I also made sure to include "preventative care" because it came up in our conversations about keeping pets healthy.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the spelling of "veterinarian" or whether a zoologist works in a zoo or in the wild. The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched a few short career videos. I added a couple simple stethoscope, paw print, and dog/cat drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one veterinary career from the puzzles and write what they do on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
