World Capitals word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this world capitals puzzle set for my 4th graders during our geography unit. The kids could name a few countries but had no idea what their capitals were or that every country has one. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Madrid, Washington DC, Ottawa, Mexico City, Brasilia, Buenos Aires, Cairo, Nairobi, Pretoria, Beijing, Tokyo, New Delhi, Canberra, and Moscow. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the capitals finally stick.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether Sydney or Canberra is the capital of Australia. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple star and globe drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers list five country-capital pairs from memory on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
