World's Tallest Buildings word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this world’s tallest buildings puzzle set for my 4th graders during our geography and engineering unit. The kids were fascinated by the Burj Khalifa and skyscrapers, but they had no idea about the history or terms like "supertall" and "megatall" — or what the current rankings actually look like in 2026. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using names like Burj Khalifa, Merdeka 118, Shanghai Tower, Makkah Royal Clock Tower, Ping An Finance Centre, Lotte World Tower, One World Trade Center, Guangzhou CTF, Tianjin CTF, and CITIC Tower . I also threw in a few key terms like "height records," "observation deck," "architecture," "design," and "megatall" because they kept coming up in our conversations about what makes these buildings so incredible.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about how to spell "Merdeka" or whether the Burj Khalifa is taller than the Jeddah Tower (still under construction — the kids always have opinions about it) . The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched a few short videos. I added a couple simple skyscraper, tower, and spire drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 4th through 6th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one building from the puzzles and write one fact about it — like its location or special feature — on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
