Often, they will engage in a behavior that makes the situation worse, their anxiety more heightened or the problem bigger. This fun BINGO game is a great way to help your students learn and practice a wide variety of problem-solving strategies so that they may be better able to retrieve these strategies while having a problem. The calm breathing posters can supplement the problem solving strategies activity. Use the cards to teach your students how to do deep breathing exercises that were designed specifically for calming. The more kids practice this strategy while they are not having a problem, the more likely they will be to be able to access it, when they are having a problem. In this resource, students will create their own Friendship Passport Activity . This is a great activity as students take a journey to understanding how to make and keep friends. There are 2 full pages that you can copy as a 2-sided document. You can then either cut out each page (it will be double-sided with activities) or fold the 2-sided paper like a book. (There are directions on this resource.) There are 8 different pages for students to engage with. Here are the 8 pages of activities: Front cover with coloring picture and title. A "Fun Page" for kids to partner with someone and play tic, tac, toe, hangman, create an image from a doodle and the game of boxes. Friendship Strengths Snapshots-A page with 9 images of polaroid like pictures where members of a small group can all compliment each other on a treasured friendship quality each student possesses. Friendship Bingo Game-students will need to ask some questions about who also likes their favorite board game, candy, food, drink, animal, recess game, book, show, and color. Pick 3 or more Acts of Friendship. Students are encouraged to do an act of friendship. Some of the examples are; play with someone new at recess, write a kind note to a friend, offer to help a friend in need, partner with someone new, say kind words to a new friend, and sit by someone new at lunch. This is a packet for Author’s Point of View Informational Packet. This was designed for your 3rd and 4th grade reading students. The learning objective is Identifying the author’spoint of view and developing our own points of view in nonfiction text. Included are a slideshow and a printable worksheet set. The slideshow has a set of 18 editable slides. Within the slideshow, students will be presented with many questions at the beginning to allow them to explore and deepen their understanding of author’s point of view. Students will be presented with many questions: -What do we mean by author’s point of view? -What is the author’s attitude or opinion about the topic? Does the author share his or her opinion about the topic? If so, what is it? -What message is the author trying to send? Why has the author written the text? Does the author want to influence your opinion on the topic? -What kind of words does the author use to help make his or her feelings known? What kind of verbs, adverbs, and adjectives are in the text? Within the slideshow, students will get a chance to practice identifying the point of view. There are 6 different informational texts to practice with. For each informational text, there will be 5 questions for students to ask themselves. Because there are 6 practice texts, you can choose to break up the texts. You may begin modeling the first 2 texts without any input from students. Allowing students to see your thought process out loud will help them begin to properly think out loud. With the next 2 texts, students can work in partners or small groups to answer the questions. For the final 2 texts, students can complete them independently by writing their answers on a piece of paper and then discussing their answers out loud. The PDF included has each of the informational texts and their questions in a printable form.

At the end of the game , players create anything they can imagine with the pieces they collected during the game . Then, they can informally practice presentation skills as they tell each other about their creation. How to Play: Place a box or pile of Lego elements (different pieces) where all players can reach them. Gather a die and this game board. Each player should choose 1 mini-figure or Lego element to be their game piece Note: Players can use their piece in their creative build at the end of the game if they would like to! Directions: Players take turns rolling one die on their turn. They move the number of spaces represented on the die and follow instructions on the game square they land on. Based on where they land, they will either choose a set number of elements from the pile, return a set number of elements from their collection to the pile, or move backward a certain number of spaces. The game ends when one person reaches the finish. At that point, all players build creatively with the pieces they have collected during the game . Then, they share what they have built.
