Here’s a realistic and engaging way to teach upper elementary pupils in grades 3-6 about budgeting while introducing some basic financial literacy too! How to Use: 1) Each student will be assigned a monthly budget (from $1,700 all the way to $5,000). 2) They select one of three options (low, medium, pricey) for each spending category: housing, eating, transportation, technology, & clothing. They might find that they have to change their choices as they move through the process. Making sacrifices is part of budgeting in real life too! 3) Students add up the amounts they spend and calculate how much they can save per month (and throughout the entire year). 4) They pick what luxury option they would save for over time: a car, a video game system, a vacation, or a house. This lesson is full of fun and bright visuals and charts that are well-organized to ensure that this math learning is accessible to all the students in your class! This beginning sound sort for the letter S is a great hands on activity for recognizing the most common sound of the letter S. This is an easy and fun activity to give students who need practice with recognizing the letter S sound from amongst other letter sounds or for those students who need extra practice distinguishing between the initial sounds in words. To complete this sorting activity , students will look at a picture on a present to determine if the picture begins with the letter S or does not begin with the letter S, and then the students will place the present on the correct sleigh mat. Enhance the teaching and learning of the beginning sound of letter J with our unique and interactive flower craftivity. This educational tool is designed to facilitate the understanding and recognition of the letter J sound with common, easy to recognize images. Our resource contains three different letter J flower templates to practice both beginning sounds as well as letter recognition. What's Included: There are two different templates that allow students to create a flower focused on recognizing the beginning sound of the letter J. There is one template that allows students to create a flower focused on letter recognition of both capital and lowercase forms of the letter J. Utilizing this Resource: Simply print the flower templates, and then allow the students to color, cut out, and assemble into a flower on colored construction paper. Gossiping or Venting? SEL Boom Cards

In this SEL Boom Cards resource, students will learn the difference between gossiping and venting. There are 24 task playing cards and 6 other cards that are explanation/introductory cards. This can be used as a whole class social emotional learning lesson where each student comes up to the interactive whiteboard and takes a turn guessing which one is the scenario. You can also assign this individually or as a group/partner resource. This is an appropriate topic for upper elementary and middle school students.
