These facts are fun, and the students will enjoy learning about the subject before reading more. The different pages in this flip book allow students to practice recognizing the letter, writing the letter, and identifying words that begin with the letter. What is Included: This flip book has a cover page for students to simply color. The seek and find page practices letter recognition by having students identify capital and lowercase forms of the letter. The find and color page practices letter recognition of the target letter from other letters of the alphabet. Students can use dot markers to mark the letters, they can color in the letter or use stickers to cover the letters. The cut and paste page allows students to work with scissor skills to cut out examples of the letter from either printed materials, like magazines or newspapers, or students can use the letters provided at the bottom of the page. The trace and write page allows students to practice tracing and writing the capital and lowercase forms of the letter. The beginnings sound page has students coloring the pictures that begin with the letter. The trace and draw page has students tracing a word that begins with the letter, then drawing a picture to represent that word. When to Use: Literacy Centers - This flip book can be placed in a literacy center for students to work on identifying the letter. Morning Work - This flip book is a perfect morning work activity. Doing one or two pages each morning, students can finish one flip book a week. Homework - These flip books can be sent home for parents to work with letter recognition with their children. Despite the challenges they face, the 54th Massachusetts Infantry fights with courage and bravery, proving their worth as soldiers and earning the respect of their fellow soldiers. Along the way, they encounter various obstacles, including prejudice from their own commander, General Harker (John Finn), and a brutal battle at Fort Wagner, where they suffer heavy losses. The film also focuses on the story of Private Trip (Denzel Washington), a former slave who initially resists authority but ultimately becomes a key member of the regiment. He forms a close bond with Shaw, who struggles to gain the respect and support of his men. "Glory" is a powerful and moving film that explores themes of race, equality, and courage. It depicts the struggles and triumphs of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry and the sacrifices they made in their fight for freedom and justice during a turbulent time in American history. The second part is an element research assignment where they are assigned an element, research it and create a summary presentation. Practice reading simple sentences with these letter W reading strips. Students will read words that begin with the letter V using the picture clue on each strip. There are 14 total reading strips that focus on the initial /w/ sound. All sentences are in the form of "W is for ___." These letter W reading strips are suitable to preschool or kindergarten kids who are learning to identify the initial sound of the letter W. These cards are perfect for introducing new vocabulary to students. What is Included: This resource contains 14 reading strips for the letter W. When to Use: Literacy Centers - These cards work well in a literacy or reading center for students to read independently or with a partner. Small Group Activity - The teacher can pull aside a small group of students who need extra practice with the target sound to use these cards. Early Finisher Task - If students finish a task early, they can grab these cards to look at and read. Take Home Book - The black and white pages can be sent home for students to make their own letter sound book. Task Box Activity by using pencil boxes Ways to Use Teachers can place the cards on a ring for a simple reading ring for a reading center . The teacher can cut the picture from the strip and have students match the picture to the sentence. Teachers can have simply have students read the strips to practice recognizing words that begin with the target letter. Skills Assessed: Reading Simple Sentences Beginning Sounds Using picture clues to figure out new words These reading strips are a low prep activity. The teacher simply needs to print out the strips and then cut them apart to create this activity. The strips can be laminated if desired. They can be places in a reading or literacy center and used over and over. By placing these strips on a ring or in a pencil box, students can easily take out and clean up this literacy center . These strips can be combined with the strips for other letters to create a sorting activity. Students can also sort the strips according to each beginning sound.
