CVC Reading Book 13
ELA, Language Development, Phonics, Pre-Reading, Reading, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1,
A phonic CVC Words Reading Book for young/SEN/ESL readers. This is the thirteenth of 16 phonic reading books to support the blending of CVC words with a short vowel sound, suitable for those who just beginning to read with phonics. These books are intended to be read in sequence for best effect. Find the complete series here: https://teachsimple.com/product/cvc-short-vowel-phonic-reading-books-fully-decodable These first phonic readers are suitable for use with all phonic programmes. These books focus exclusively on sounding out words and they only use the key sight (red/tricky) words a, is, the, of, which are introduced only gradually. These short words should be learned on a flashcard first, but are best put into context as soon as possible when children usually, quickly pick them up. Pictures are deliberately minimal to encourage the child to gain meaning from the text and not to guess. All of the words are introduced and then met again in subsequent readers, to help develop confidence and fluency. The book s begins with just a few words being introduced. For example, the book CVC Reading Book 13 uses the words it, doll, picnic, cup, etc. The whole scope and sequence is included in the pack for your reference. Each book lists the sight word/s being used in that book at the beginning. There is also a short introduction to the book to be read by the teacher and discussed with the child. These introductions help to make up for the lack of words in the book and help parents and teachers to have a basis for discussion with the child, so aiding reading comprehension. I have based the stories around loveable characters with whom the children quickly identify: farmer Tom with his animals, his wife, his son Sam and daughter, Pam, his dog, Jiff and the cat. Due to the systematic, phonetic nature of these books, they are highly suitable for special needs children who have failed with other programmes. Many parents have told me they wished they had found these books sooner, or had found them at all, as they would have been ideal for their struggling reader. They have been thoroughly tested by my current pupils all of whom are boys. Even my nine-year old boy pupil loves them. They can also be used with young EFL/ESL learners.

Get ready to gobble up some fun with Thanksgiving Connect the Dots, Alphabet Dot to Dot Activity! This seven-page adventure combines learning and laughter as kids connect letters from A to Z to reveal adorable Thanksgiving themed pictures. It’s like a treasure hunt, but instead of gold, they’ll discover turkeys, pumpkins, and maybe even a pilgrim hat that’s cooler than Uncle Larry’s cowboy one. Each page is a fresh surprise, with dots patiently waiting to transform into festive scenes. As students follow the alphabet trail, they’ll be sharpening their letter recognition skills while secretly wondering if turkeys always look this happy before Thanksgiving. (Spoiler: they don’t.) Once the dots are connected, the fun doesn’t stop, kids can color their creations to bring them to life. A neon turkey? Go for it. A pumpkin with polka dots? Why not! It’s Thanksgiving, and anything goes, except skipping dessert. Perfect for classrooms or at-home fun, this activity is easy to set up and keeps kids entertained longer than it takes Aunt Sue to tell her famous “gravy disaster” story. So grab those pencils, and let’s turn those dots into holiday magic, one alphabet letter at a time! Enjoy!

Get ready to connect the dots —and maybe a few spooky surprises, with the Halloween Follow the Dots activity! It’s the perfect way to keep little goblins and ghouls entertained while sneaking in some fine motor skills and a bit of magical number magic. Think of it as a treasure map, but instead of X marking the spot, you’re following numbered dots to reveal a Halloween masterpiece. Spoiler: there’s probably a ghost or pumpkin lurking in there somewhere. As you trace from dot to dot, the picture will slowly come to life, kind of like watching a ghost materialize but without the creepy sound effects. You might start with a random collection of dots and think, “What on Earth is this going to be?” But don’t worry, by the time you hit that last number, you’ll have a spooky scene worthy of a spot on the fridge. And here’s the best part: no artistic talent is required! Even if your usual Halloween drawings look more like mutant potatoes than jack-o’-lanterns, this dot-to-dot guarantees a picture that actually looks like what it’s supposed to be. Perfect for Halloween fun in the classroom or at home, it’s a sneaky way to mix learning with some good old-fashioned spooky fun. Just grab a pencil, follow the dots, and let the magic unfold! Pdf file includes 5 pages. Enjoy!
