Astronomy Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Reading, Language Development, Vocabulary, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Word Searches, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables, Crosswords Puzzles
Astronomy Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this astronomy vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our space unit. The kids had a lot of questions about space but didn't know basic terms like galaxy, orbit, or asteroid. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like astronomy, galaxy, orbit, asteroid, comet, meteor, telescope, observatory, planet, star, sun, moon, universe, black hole, gravity, light year, and atmosphere. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the words stick while keeping them curious. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over how to spell "asteroid" or what a light year actually means. The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple telescope and star drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick three words and write one sentence about space on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.

Grade 6 Medieval History word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this medieval history puzzle set for my 6th graders during our social studies unit. The kids had heard of knights and castles but had no idea what words like feudalism, serf, or manor meant when we started learning about the social structure of the Middle Ages. Secondary Source Terms word search, scramble and crossword puzzle I made this secondary source terms puzzle set for my 4th graders during our social studies unit. The kids could read about history in books but had no idea what words like secondary source, summary, or interpretation meant when we talked about how historians retell the past. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like secondary source, summary, interpretation, textbook, biography, essay, documentary, analysis, and scholar. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the secondary source vocabulary finally stick. The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or indoor recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about whether a documentary is a primary or secondary source. The crossword I use for partners or as a review. I added a couple simple book, film reel, and scholar drawings but nothing too busy. Works for 4th through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers write one example of a secondary source they have used on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
