Weather Vocabulary word search, scramble and crossword puzzle

I made this weather vocabulary puzzle set for my 3rd and 4th graders during our Earth science unit. The kids could name rain and snow but got lost when I threw in words like barometer, condensation, and front. So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using words like atmosphere, precipitation, evaporation, condensation, cumulus, stratus, barometer, thermometer, front, thunderstorm, tornado, and hurricane. Nothing fancy — just puzzles to help the terms finally sink in.

The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess. The scramble gets them talking because they argue over how to spell "precipitation" or "barometer." The crossword I use for partners. I added a couple simple cloud and sun drawings but nothing too busy.

Works for 2nd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick three words and use them in a weather forecast sentence on the back. The kids actually ask for these now.
