Follow the teacher's guide's suggested 3-week schedule of five 30-minute sessions per week, moving from atoms and energy in week 1 through cells and heredity in week 2 to Earth systems and mixed review in week 3 (page 51).
Group students using the guide's three differentiation tiers -- Still Building, On-Track, and Ready for More -- and assign the matching support (pre-taught vocabulary, independent work, or a deeper research task) listed for each (page 53).
Pair each section with the hands-on lab suggested in the teacher's guide, such as a density lab measuring mass and volume for Atoms & Matter, or examining real onion skin under a microscope for the cell sections (pages 52, 54).
