Changemakers Throughout History word search, scramble and crossword puzzle
I made this changemakers throughout history puzzle set for my 4th graders during our social studies and biography unit. The kids kept asking questions like "What's a changemaker?" and "Can kids be changemakers too?" So I put together a word search, a word scramble, and a crossword using key vocabulary like changemaker, activist, leader, courage, justice, equality, influence, inventor, advocate, and change . I also included words like diverse, culture, admire, persist, and inspire because they show up in every conversation about people who make a difference .
The PDF is four pages. Three puzzles plus one answer key page. The word search works well for quiet time after recess or independent practice. The scramble gets them talking because they argue about the difference between a changemaker and an activist or whether a leader always has to be famous . The crossword I use for partners or as a review after we've watched a few short video biographies . I added a couple simple star, speech bubble, and raised fist drawings but nothing too busy.
Works for 3rd through 5th grade. Print and go. Sometimes I have early finishers pick one word from the puzzles and write a sentence about a person they admire on the back . The kids actually ask for these now.
